For Austin-based photographer Giulio Sciorio, his craft is about more than just creating; it’s inspiring others to create. That’s why, in 2011, he launched the Create More Carry Less Photowalk. The ongoing event series, which has appeared across the country in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, invites urban photographers to go on a three-hour walk, exploring the city through the lens of their cameras.
What they walk away with? That’s entirely up to them. For Giulio, it’s all about focusing on the art and craft.
“The educational part is loose. The idea is to get people to create with intent, to get them to declare what they want to make and then go out and make it.”
The Photowalk runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, in Phoenix. Photographers will start at Moses Inc. and work their way through downtown, ultimately capping things off at Phoenix Public Market.
Minimalist photographers are encouraged. All experience levels are welcome. Walkers are advised to bring a “small camera, a big heart and [an] open mind.” (And maybe some good walking shoes.) Admission is free but registration is encouraged. Register Here
