As Valley Metro’s go-to agency for the last several years, Moses was tasked yet again with branding the largescale event and all of its accompanying materials. The theme, design, and subsequent collateral would not only need to define Valley Metro’s Clean Air campaign but also inspire residents to take their own initiatives.
To make the campaign approachable, we chose to illustrate the ways in which changing your daily commute could have a positive impact on the world around you – literally. Using the theme of Pollution Solutions, a rhyming parallel in itself, our senior art director put his illustration skills to the test, creating vintage-inspired animations that were both two-dimensional and two-folded contrasts. This would give the viewer an immediate visual grasp of how they could literally and figuratively flip their habits to help the environment.
The end result was a cohesive campaign that was as friendly as it was forward thinking. By illustrating our Pollution Solutions, we didn't just make healthy commuting habits accessible, we made them fun; animating them in a way that made Phoenicians feel motived to make their own commute changes. Our work was not only recognized by all who attended the event but also nationally by the American Advertising Awards, where we presented silver in the category of Illustration Series.
